NOKIA C2-01

Ushawai ibiwa kitu live live?🤔 Live live as in mchana 😆 This story is about this one fateful day when a phone that didn't belong to me, a one week old Nokia C2-01 was snatched from my hands tukiwa na mwenye simu hapo kando yangu.

Tulikuwa tunastay Lenana karibu na Lenana School aka 'Changez' and on this day kulikuwa na "Changez Open", a talents-day sort of event where all 'known' high schools would show up. The August Holiday had just commenced. The event was more of a 'close of term' event - why it was held on a Saturday - just after shule zifungwe. Said event was open to the public (bad mistake❌!) so you can imagine venye nlibambika when one tall, dark & handsome man, A.O*, my then boyfriend-to-be agreed attend this event. ❤

A.O & I had met on Facebook through a classmate, Poxxy. He was Poxxy's neighbour and lived not so far from our school. Our physical meeting happened on the first day of mid-term break (before August) when I found him waiting for me outside the school gate just to 'give me a push' to the matatu stage - while carrying my bag. How romantic! Can your crush even?? "Unajua mi bado sina simu lakini unaeza kuwa uninikol na hii....0714 xxx xxx," I told him, blushing, while exchanging contacts. What followed were late night chats between me & him using Sharon's phone. Sharon, my sister from another mother, had just been randomly picked for a KPLC advert in their primary school and had in turn used part of her cash reward to buy a phone, her precious Nikia C2-01.

The event was mad fun! Antony B & Turbulance's 'Real Warrior' was ruling the waves at the time, mastudents hawangeshikika hio ngoma ikiwekwa. Event ikaisha Sharon & I tukaamua kupea A.O push hadi stage around 5.15pm hapo. Kutoka stage tukaamua tusipitie njia ya katikati (yenye iko busy na wasee), tupitie main road next to Ngong Forest- which is equally busy but kuna fresh air - kinda na ni mchana bado. My hunk of a boyfriend-to-be had bought me airtime worth 100 bob just before he boarded a mat & promised to chat the night way. Tulibambika niaje..hio simu haikuwa imewai ona credo ya soo. Tukatoka stage tukitembea pole pole nikiweka credo kwa phone, owner akitembea kando yangu tu mdogo mdogo.

Hapo mbele kwa baro, just before upige corner uanze kuenda Lenana School, kwa junction ya kuingia Ngong Forest hio place ya Nduthi kulikuwa na machali kama saba ivi - mastudents; others in uniforms, others in home clads. Venye tu Safaricom walituma message ya "Airtime Received",  mmoja wao mrefu in a red t-shirt & black pants starts walking towards us. Sisi tukafikiria anakam kutukatia because - 'daaaah men'. Ghafla Bin Vuu, Osama Bin Laden akatufikia sura amekunja akastretch mkono kwangu.

🗣"WEKELEA HIO SIMU HAPA!!!" Tukashtuka walai tunashangaa shida ya huyu boy ni gani. Confusion galore 😂😂

🗣 "NIMESEMA UWEKELEE HIO SIMU HAPA, UNAONA NACHEKA?"

Sijui venye alijaribu kuisnatch akahata sa akajam tukaanza kustruggle hapo. Sharon akamshika shati akishout "Uuuuuui aki tusaidieni anataka kutuibia!!" 😂 Hao machali wanaangalia tu from a distance ju they were in on it. Sharon aliskia kakofi kamekuja akajipata ameanguka chini kama gunia ya waru nikabaki ni mimi na Batista kwa ring. Alinigonga mkono sijui venye niliachilia simu. Simu ilienda na kredo ya soo. It happened so fast Sharon akajipata at least alirarua tsho ya mwizi. Chali alikimbia bare chest akienda sides za Karen I think akaingia kwa msitu ndani. After akimbie about 3 of the guys wanaamka wanajifanya concerned......"Gai...ati ameenda na phone yenu?" Wakaanza ati kukimbia towards the direction yenye huyo mgondi alikuwa ameenda, wanakimbia SLOW MOTION!! "Waaah.....aki huyo ameenda. Poleni."

Finally kamse ka nduthi kakakam tukaipanda tukimwambia direction tukimbize mwizi atusaidie. Dereva Wa Nduthi alitufikisha Kabuagi 😂, akishinda akisema "Mbona simuoni?😂

A.O hio siku alilala akijua ameachwa.

QUORA 3: STAKI MKATE!

Q: Has a homeless/street person ever refused food you've offered them? If so, did they provide an explanation? Well, well, well, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, my fellow repeat readers or repeat clients, if you may! Today I have a short story to bless your eyes and ears. Will it blow your mind? Maybe. Will it give you reason to come back here and check out more stories? Definitely!  I assume that most of you my readers are Nairobi residents and if not, you've been here at one point in your life. This is a notably great city with beautiful people, a people with a culture so rich everyone outside it wants to come have a taste. It is a hub of 'unity', or so they say. It's here that the assorted bunch of the various tribes come to link up, all forty two of them. Our relatives from the rurals are fascinated by this city, no wonder they gather around to hear tales of its craziness every time  Nairobians visit home for Christmas. The streets, as usual, are ever buz...

What's success to you?

When I enrolled into University, my main goal was to succeed, that’s everyone’s goal at this point really. Time has passed by so quickly and the goal still remains the same. Many are times I tend to lose focus on this goal and I end up messing up big time. Life’s like a mountain, you’ve got to gather the strength to move up to the peak despite the strong wind that will try to block you from getting there. You might reach some point and get tired, or you lose the strength to move on but with your eyes fixed at the peak, all is gonna go smoother than you can imagine. But you've got to have the hunger to reach there, you’ve got to have the desire to acquire what’s at the peak, have fire in your belly, be proactive, strong-willed, optimistic and most of all prayerful. All that I think lies with what YOU think success is. There are gazillion definitions of success but I think every single person should have their own definition of this success we all very much want. What'...

3 Lessons at 3: What Marriage Has Taught Me So Far

Today marks 3 years since I said “I do.” Three years of learning, stretching, laughing, fighting, forgiving, and above all, growing (literally and figuratively). Marriage has been both beautiful and humbling. It has mirrored parts of me I never knew existed, both good and not-so-good. It has amplified behaviours I thought I'd perfected. It welcomed we and stopped me at the door with one question: "So you think you've got it all figured out, huh?" As I reflect on this journey so far, I felt led to share 3 core lessons that have stood out for me in this season of becoming one. I call them “3 Lessons at 3.”  - 3 years. Family of 3. 3 lessons.   1. Forgiveness isn’t easy, but it’s necessary Forgiveness for me has been so hard, I can't lie. I struggle to move on from an offense. It is one of the areas that still needs improvement. I hold onto offense for long and have a tendency of wanting to block and forget anyone who offends me. Marriage, however, doesn't give ...
