GRACE Nanana is a rescue center where Maasai girls escape the illegal but still practiced customs of early marriage and female genital mutilation in order to pursue education. Full-time housing and care for the girls is provided on-site at Nanana Winbridge Education School, located in Kajiado town, Kenya. GRACE Nanana works to educate and empower girls to choose the life they want to live. 2021 was an assortment of happy & sad, but mostly happy. I can confidently say that my ‘happy jar’ for the past year overflowed. Spent about 2 months estimate at home recuperating. Has your personality ever worked against you? Like it totally refuses to come through for you when you need it to? Today has shown me some downsides of being a Sanguine. Sanguines are highly talkative, always enthusiastic, active and super social. We’re everybody’s friend, we easily stand out but also blending in isn’t hard for us. When crossing over to this year there was never a guarantee that we’d all get to this day; the first day of the last month of the year. We aren’t a special bunch really, we are simply highly favored. There is this somewhat insulting quote by Malcom X casually thrown around that goes; 'If you want to hide something from a black/african man, put it in a book 😬.' We read it with a pinch of bitterness because it holds some truth to it. However, in this era where multiple forms of media are on our faces each waking day, I feel that the unwillingness to pick up a physical book goes down to an individual's choice. These other sources of media are still as educative as print media, so to each their own. I subscribe to all media forms at my disposal  and occasionally pick up physical books. My resolution this year with regards books was to read 6 books ( See review of the other 5 HERE ).
